Samantha Cristoforetti is the first European astronaut to head the European Space Agency (ESA). In a Twitter post, ESA writes that Cristoforetti is in a rare astronaut club, because of her skills.
She is part of the 600 astronauts who have traveled in space where only 10% of them are female. Cristoforetti also holds the record for the longest uninterrupted space flight by a European astronaut, on which he traveled for 199 consecutive days.
