The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani has dismissed Valdete Daka as CEC chairperson
In the reasoning of President Osmani, provided by GazetaExpress, it is stated that the decision enters into force on the day of signing.
“The Central Election Commission (CEC) is a constitutional and independent body, which directs and verifies all actions related to the election process and also announces the results 0) 00. Elections as the most important element of democracy, especially the representative one, are of special importance for each state. Undertaking relevant actions related to the elections, including their organization and conduct, means the basic obligation of the CEC as an election management body “, it is stated in the decision.
Earlier REL reported that Osmani had asked the chairwoman of the Central Election Commission, Valdete Daka, to resign and in return would offer her public gratitude, but, according to a Kosovar media source, Daka had refused to resign.
Supreme Court Judge Valdete Daka has been chairing the Central Election Commission since June 2010.
