Alexander Mici is running for City Council in District 13 in the Pelham Parkway area, Morris Park, Pelham Bay, Throgs Neck Pelham Gardens Allerton, Williamsbridge and City Island.
In this constituency, Albanian voters make up a significant number in this district but the representation of the Albanian community has been very weak in previous elections.
“The participation of the voters and, above all, of the Albanian community en masse in these elections would ensure a sure victory for my candidacy. 11,000 votes are enough to win this race. At the moment, the Democrats are running in the political parties in the election campaign, but the chances are that in the final general elections I will face Marjorie Velazquez. I have no race within my party, this favors and motivates me to work with the electorate and focus on campaigning as the only party candidate in the Republican camp.
This is a great trust from the party I represent. It is certainly an appreciation for the Albanian community as well. Our community has the opportunity to support for the first time a genuine candidate with the right experience, moral integrity, citizenship and professionalism and highly qualified to represent him with dignity and Albanians should take their participation in politics more seriously because it is the only one. way to claim our rights as a community. The power of the vote is representative power. Widespread voter turnout factories us as a community. I expect a lot from my compatriots. Historically, when Albanians have been united, they have done great work and achieved historic results. This is a golden moment for us as a community. I have the conviction and I have full hope that this time too the Albanians will take a big step in the success of their representation in the New York City Council “, says Mici.
Aleksandër Micit’s political activity started at a very young age, starting in the distant year 1991, on April 2 in his hometown in Shkodra. At a time when the dictatorship had not yet left, the fear of State Security and the violence of the dictatorship was installed everywhere in the city. He and his schoolmates Jordan Misja were the first to have the courage to challenge the then dictatorial regime, organizing and seriously endangering the demonstration on April 2 in Shkodra.
In August 1991, together with 30 thousand other Albanians, he took the road to Italy from the port of Durrës, boarding the infamous ship Vlora.
“The suffering we went through was unimaginable. 24 hours without water and 4 days without any bite of bread. We have seen people losing limbs from ship cranes. We have seen criminal gangs throwing people in the middle of the Adriatic Sea because they did not hand over the money they had in their pockets. Murder and slaughter, robbery of all the people who were there. Through some maneuvers we had the opportunity to leave the terrible stadium of Bari and started work from the most difficult, such as agriculture, construction, community services, etc., in order to have the opportunity to work to ensure a living wage. They were very difficult survival days for all of us. The fact that we had escaped from the dictatorship eased our souls. “After eleven months in Italy, in June 1992 we gained the right to come to America,” Mici tells his story of emigration, similar to that of many other Albanians.
Alexander Mici arrived in the US at the age of 16 and started working on the night shift as a supermarket cleaner and in the morning went to high school. The beginning was extremely exhausting as without knowing a single word of English, it took a lot of sacrifice to reach the level of peers in school and after a demanding job he finished high school with excellent grades. In 1996 he earned the right to study at Fordham University and decided to focus on two branches Philosophy and Communication. He then went to Fordham University School of Law to study law and after graduation began working as a lawyer for the City of New York. After a long and very formative experience, he decided to open his law office where he continues to work today and dedicate himself to the Albanian family and community.
“Since the first year I came to America and until today, I have helped dozens of people voluntarily, especially those who had problems with immigration, housing or wanted to go to school and did not know the ways, steps, procedures or people who had limited economic opportunities and sought state assistance, or simply needed to learn the places and use my tools and infrastructure to come to the aid of my compatriots. Helping my community is one of my greatest pride and happiness. I did not want anyone to go through the steps of my initial suffering. “Whoever asked me for help, I gave my best without any compensation because I have always wanted to contribute, especially for my community”, says with love his roots Aleksandër Mici.
In addition to academic studies, he also graduated from a private acting conservatory which gave him the opportunity to participate in several world-famous TV shows such as: “The Blacklist”, “Person of Interest”, “Elementary”, “White Collar”, etc. and a Hollywood movie called “Dead Man Down”. He is also a third-rate Black Belt instructor at Tae Koon.
In the political arena and political and civic engagement, she is running for a second term, once as a New York State Senator and now as a member of the New York City City Council.
“My candidacy platform is a conservative platform where the main principle is to limit the role of government in people’s lives, where the government should be as an arbitrator and not as a gendarme. Recent social movements have highlighted a new neo-Marxist war against the free market. This false war that is being waged is nothing but a revolution like the one in October in Russia disguised in the name of racial justice to reinstate the socialist system. And this next intrigue of the young Marxists to usurp power comes presented as a benign movement that seeks to improve the lives of the people but in fact has as its ultimate goal the installation of the new dictatorship. This is being done in a genius way by the American extreme left by introducing some new theories such as “critical race theory” and “cancel culture” etc., where an attempt is being made to hide the 300-year-old culture of the most advanced democracy in the world. stating that the history of this empire is that of racism and the exploitation of the man of color. This is being done through attempts to indoctrinate the younger generation with Marxist and racial falsities. My political struggle, although for a Member of the Municipal Council, focuses on this phenomenon. To me the local issues faced by a politician of this level are important but not as important as the ideological struggle I just described. This is the essence of my campaign. This is my winning platform. Compared to the first political campaign, my political development has been more parallel than vertical. I have always tried to have an essential perspective rather than an approach to solving the problems of the day. The gangs of motorcyclists who terrorize the neighborhood should be stopped but it should be seen why this phenomenon was born not only how to eradicate it, etc., examples that are part of the daily life of the area where I live and I am trying to represent. My candidacy focuses precisely on these philosophical-political views. The solution to all these events is found in an in-depth examination based on the common sense but also in a deep intellectual research to discover the embryo “, says Mici.
