The fact that Apple has decided to expand Shazam to a full platform, shows that the application is performing very well. Today the company said that every month 1 billion songs are identified through Shazam.
Shazam has nearly 200 million active users per month and is the first choice of a user who is listening to a song or music and wants to identify it.
Founded in 2002 as an SMS-based service, Shazam debuted on the iPhone in 2008 and soon after on Android. In 2018 it was bought by Apple for $ 400 million.
An app redesign arrived in 2020 while Apple did not remove it from Android. In November last year Shazam said the most wanted song was Dance Monkey by Australian pop star Tones And I identified more than 36.6 million times.
At WWDC Apple said it would open up music recognition technology to app developers with a facility called ShazamKit. Android and iOS app developers can create software that identifies music from Shazam’s massive database. / PCWorld Albanian
