President Joe Biden said Wednesday that the U.S. intelligence community is divided over the origin of the coronavirus, whether the virus came from human contact with an infected animal or whether it was the result of a laboratory accident.
Mr Biden said in a statement that he had called for further inquiries into the origin of the pandemic.
The president said the US intelligence is examining two different scenarios and that none of the conclusions so far enjoy strong support and they are divided on assumptions about the events that led to the spread of the virus.
“I have asked the intelligence community to redouble their efforts to gather and analyze information that can bring us closer to a conclusion and to report to me on this matter within 90 days,” said President Biden.
“As part of this report, I have called for further inquiries, including specific questions about ChinaSaid President Biden.
