The US Embassy in Serbia has recently reiterated the case of the murder of brothers Agron, Mehmet and Ylli Bytyqi.
Through a post on social networks, the embassy emphasizes the inaction of the authorities in Belgrade, to catch the killers of the Bytyqi brothers. Kosovo brothers living and working in the US and holding US citizenship were killed 22 years ago by Serbian special police units.
Today marks 22 years since the murder of three American citizens who, while in detention in Serbia, were killed and their bodies found in Petrovo Sello in eastern Serbia – the training base of the Serbian special police unit led by the well-known Goran Radosavlevic si Guri.
The Bytyqi brothers were shot in the head with their hands tied behind their backs – and even two decades later, the Serbian authorities have not fully investigated the case. The US Embassy in Serbia reacted to this with a statement.
“Justice for the Bytyqi brothers and their families, we demand responsibility for those who committed and concealed their murder and will continue to be one of the priorities in our bilateral relations with Serbia. The United States government has called on Serbian authorities, who have been promising assistance for years, to conduct a full investigation. This case, like many others, shows the urgent need for Serbia to conduct unfinished war crimes investigations in order to strengthen the rule of law.“, It is said in the press release of the American embassy in Belgrade.
