Nine officials of the Ministry of Interior were arrested today by the Police by order of the SPAK and by decision of the Special Court against Corruption.
The operation took place in the premises of this Ministry and is related to the 25 million euro tender for Police uniforms.
It is learned that the arrested are:
1 – Edlira Naqellari – Home arrest
2- Kreshnik Bejkaj – Arrest in prison
3- Ani Omuri – Arrest in prison
4- Klevis Hasani – Arrest in prison
5- Anisa Bogdani – Arrest in prison
6- Flutura Çekrezi – Arrest in prison
7- Fatmir Demneri – Arrest in prison
8- Gëzim Mingaj – Arrest in prison
9- Mariglen Buzali – Arrest in prison
For 8 of the above arrested, the Court has given the security measure “Prison arrest”, while for one of them the security measure “Home Arrest” has been given. These officials and some of them former officials are accused of influencing and disqualifying from the competition some companies interested in the tender of Police uniforms.
Currently, the detainees are being questioned by investigators and prosecutors of the Special Prosecution Office SPAK.
– Edlira Naqellari, The Director of the Concentrated Purchasing Agency, on July 2, 2021, was suddenly relieved of her duties by the Minister of Interior, Bledi Çuçi. This Directorate is exactly what organizes tenders for all government institutions.
It, as a central purchasing body, authorized by decision of the Council of Ministers, has the mission of conducting procurement procedures of budget funds with value above the monetary limit of small value procurements, in the name and on behalf of the Prime Minister, ministries, institutions depending on the Prime Minister and line ministers, for the purchase of specified goods and services.
