According to one study, people who took both doses were 3 times less likely to become infected with Covid than unvaccinated people. The study, led by scientists at Imperial College London, is based on tests of 100,000 people in England between June 24 and July 12.
During this period, about 0.63% of people or 1 in 158 became infected with Coivd. This shows a quadrupling of the cases compared to the previous study report, when 0.15% or 1 in 670 were infected with the virus as of June 7th.
According to the study, people who are fully vaccinated may be less likely than unvaccinated people to become infected with the virus, because they have a lower viral load. Immunologist Paul Elliott, director of the React program, said: “This study confirms our previous data showing that both doses of an anti-Covid vaccine are effective against the virus.
However, there is still the risk as no vaccine is 100% effective, and we know that some people even though they have been fully vaccinated can become infected again.
So even with the easing of restrictions, we still need to be careful to avoid the spread of Covid.
