The Prime Minister of Northern Macedonia, Zoran Zaev has announced that starting from July 5, all passports of Macedonian citizens will be with the new name of the country, “Republic of Northern Macedonia”.
Zaev has indicated that he will be the first citizen to apply and receive the first passport with the new name of the country, according to the Prespa Agreement.
Zaef, referring to the implementation of the Prespa Agreement, said there is a lot that has been done by both parties so far, but there is also a lot to be done, while he expressed confidence that the football federation will change its name.
“We have already started talks with sports federations. Many of them have changed their title according to the Constitution because they represent Northern Macedonia. I believe that we will achieve this with the football federation of Northern Macedonia, because they must follow the constitutional name of the state. “The Prespa Agreement clearly states that whatever the state represents and is financed by it from the state budget must change its title, in accordance with the Constitution.” said Zaev.
He also said that in accordance with the Agreement, the Prespa country has the right to use the MK and MKD code (with the exception of car license plates in which the NMR code is printed) and added that he expects the Greek side to continue with the replacement license plates in its road network in which its place is listed as FYROM or FYROM.
Among other things, Zaef said he expects the Greek Parliament to ratify the memoranda of cooperation between Greece and Northern Macedonia soon.
