The European Union reached an agreement on Thursday to remove passenger barriers between European countries, using the digital certificate.
The agreement aims to eliminate quarantine requirements for citizens. The decision will take effect on July 1, although EU countries will have another six weeks to implement it if they are not ready by then.
The green digital certificate, sometimes informally called the COVID passport, will make it possible to check the certificate indicating if the holder is not infected anywhere in the EU by reading the QR code.
There are three ways to prove this. The first is that the person has been vaccinated against COVID-19 or that the coronavirus patient has long been considered protected by antibodies, and if he or she has not been vaccinated and does not have enough antibodies, he or she should have a “fresh” negative PCR test.
With such confirmations, persons will be able to cross the borders between the member states of the European Union, without being subject to the strict restrictive measures that have been in force so far, such as testing or self-isolation.
