US President Joe Biden said today that he would put pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin to respect human rights when the two leaders meet in June.
During a speech in honor of the Day of the Fallen in the United States, Mr. Biden said, “I will meet with President Putin in Geneva and make it clear that we will not tolerate his violation of these rights. ”
The White House said Friday it would continue with plans for a meeting between the two leaders after Microsoft identified a cyber attack on U.S. government agencies by Nobelium, the group that infiltrated last year’s SolarWind system from Russia.
The June 16 meeting comes amid strained relations over US election interference that Moscow denies, cyberattacks and Ukraine.
