The Microsoft board also appointed Satya Nadella as CEO of the board, becoming the first person to hold both roles since co-founder Bill Gates stepped down as CEO in 2000.
The change is an appreciation for the role Nadella has played in revitalizing the tech giant. During its 7-year journey as CEO, Microsoft has noticed a strong increase in Azure cloud services, productivity divisions and gaming.
During Nadella’s time there were acquisitions like Minecraft, Linkedin, GitHub and finally the gaming giant ZeniMax.
Today Microsoft is the second most valuable company in the world after Apple with $ 1.9 trillion market value.
According to the Financial Times and The Wall Street Journal, the change on the company board was seen as a natural move thanks to the leadership demonstrated by Nadella, an appointment discussed at least since last year. / CIO Albanian
