At this year’s I / O conference, Google announced the merger of WearOS with Tizen. Since then the company has gradually brought in more details about the next version of the operating system for smart clothing.
It has already detailed the next version which will be WearOS 3. The new version will improve the user experience but in some cases may have a negative impact on performance and battery life.
The update requires users to reset the smartwatch to the initial state during the installation processor. The biggest problem is that some smartwatches may have trouble with WearOS 3.
Fortunately the list of smartwatches that will receive the WearOS 3 update is not long. The Mobvoi TicWatch Pro 3 and TicWatch E3 are just two watches that have been confirmed so far.
And worst of all, Google predicts that WearOS 3 will arrive at these hours in the second half of 2022, which means more than 1 year.
Other smartwatches from Fossil, OPPO and Mobvoi will not receive the update although all watches from these brands that debut towards the end of this year will be able to receive the update.
All other existing Tizen-based watches from Samsung, including the Galaxy Watch 4 will not receive the WearOS 3 update. So Google only brings the WearOS 3 update for watches with the Qualcomm Wear 4100 processor, while for older versions of the platform support will not be provided. .
Existing watches that do not receive WearOS 3 will have at least 2 years of security updates. / PCWorld Albanian
