Gent Sejko, the Governor of the Bank of Albania presented today the new banknote that will be released for the first time in the market in Albania. The new banknote is 10 thousand new lek, while together with it, on July 1, 2021, the 1000 lek banknote will be renewed. Sejko said that this banknote will have national symbols on one side and the portrait of the national poet, Asdreni (Alexander Stavre Drenova), on the other side. Also in it are written some verses from our national anthem. Another change in the emergence of new banknotes is the security bar, which will be in silver.
“On July 1, the new banknotes will be launched on the market. The new 10,000 lek and the new 1000 lek denomination will enter the market. The new 10,000 lekë banknote with advanced security elements, ”said Sejko.
In less than two years, the Bank of Albania issues new banknotes. Initially, the new denomination of 200 lek and 5000 lek came on the market. The need for cash, according to the BoA, has led the Bank to issue a new banknote, such as ALL 10,000. The banknote will be released on July 1, 2021.
