Prime Minister Edi Rama has warned of the fight against corruption within the health system. He said that only through this tool can increase the income and trust of citizens in the system.
The head of government says that he can not sin with the sweat of the citizens and the blood of the patients.
“One cannot sin with the blood of patients, the tears of family members, one cannot sin with the sweat of citizens within the general state system. “These are sins that go beyond the personal and involve dangerous, and often deadly, collective cancer,” said the prime minister.
According to Rama, the government’s goal is to turn the health system in Albania into a reference point in the region.
“This is the reason that even in hospitals, we have started to establish and will extend to the end the network of individuals who will be there only for this work. To separate the wet from the dry. There can be no fight against corruption if it is not done within the state. So within all the institutions of executive power where public funds are managed, and where people receive service. There can be no war against evil if it is divided between the executive power that stands on a barricade and those outside this system, even in the ranks of crime. The war must take place internally in the first place. Only in this way will income, trust, solidarity, dignity and respect increase and be placed in the place they deserve in the eyes of all public opinion, those who do the job. Only in this way will Albania climb to the top that has been hindered for years and the state will become the necessary and loyal ally and companion of the citizens.
On the contrary, it is difficult. Of course and this is difficult but not impossible. These that are happening fortunately, are the signs of change that are coming and will deepen. One cannot sin with the blood of patients, the tears of family members, one cannot sin with the sweat of citizens within the general state system. These are sins that go beyond the personal and involve dangerously, and often deadly, collective cancer. I believe that we are not only on the right path, but on this path where all efforts are being made to take health to another level, we aim for health in Albania to become a reference point for the entire region. We have a body of nurses that really deserves respect and both of these components cannot be subdued by a segment within them that goes in the opposite direction to the direction of history. We can do this because we have a very clear vision and have a leadership that we have never had at the helm of the health system. The leadership of the minister, the very passionate and ambitious leader in many points of the system. We have an ongoing gap to fill all these points because not in every point we have the right people “- said Rama.
In addition to the “war” within the health system, Rama warns of intervention in the medical university. He described the medical university as having a strong pedagogical and managerial base, saying that other universities have a weak base.
“To maximize the capacity of the system by not leaving the troops in the system all the burden to deal with all and far beyond their mission and capacity. Here I am talking about all the financial and human capacities that can be expected through these synergies. We are working intensively with the minister to ensure that the whole chain from the supply of medicines to the provision of technology, to the motivation and reward of doctors and the management of human resources in our health system turn into a virtuoso chain with shared responsibilities and harmony between all links.
And the education link for which we are working very closely with the rectors and the pedagogical body so that even there we can make an important qualitative leap with a base that is favorable in contrast to other universities where the base is weak.
