A German journalist has been fired after her images of her being ‘smeared’ in the mud were made public, before she went live.
RTL journalist Susanna Ohlen was caught on camera painting mud in Bad Munstereifel, a place where she was allegedly helping clean up the city after being destroyed by massive floods that have swept the country.
RTL.de had published an article entitled ‘Cleaning after the flood: RTL presenter helps clean up Bad Munstereifel’, thus appreciating the journalist’s contribution.
However she was caught by a citizen who did not hesitate to share her video online, going viral all over the world within a few hours.
The footage shows Ohlen in a blue shirt, hat and boots as she bends over she gets some mud with which she dyes her clothes while she was surrounded by houses damaged by floods and debris. Then she bends over again and makes her face muddy.
The viewer can be heard laughing in the background.
Ohlen has worked at RTL since 2008 and has introduced Good Evening RTL, Good Morning Germany and Point 12.
