Tourism is gradually returning to pandemic pre-crisis levels. In June, 604,000 foreign nationals entered the country, INSTAT reported. Compared to the same month of 2020, when the country was in pandemic, the figure is 3.4 times higher. While in relation to 2019, the entrances of citizens are only 4% lower.
This recovery, in relation to 2019, has come entirely from tourists from Kosovo. Their inflows were 62% higher compared to June 2019. Citizens from Kosovo are holding the main share of tourism in the country, accounting for 55% of total inflows in June this year, from 34% in the same period of 2019- s.
Northern Macedonia saw a slight increase of 1% compared to 2019, occupying the second place (11% of total inflows)
The inflows of other nationals continued to decline sharply, especially from Greece (-65%) and Germany (-49%).
Poles are returning and in June nearly 20 thousand citizens entered from this country, although the figure still remains 23% lower than 2019.
INSTAT reported that the entries of Albanian and foreign citizens in the Albanian territory, in June 2021, are 939,872. Compared to June 2020, this indicator results in an increase of 2.6 times.
In June 2021, the number of foreign nationals entering Albanian territory is 604,381.
Compared to June 2020, this number has increased by 3.4 times.
Citizens’ entrances
The number of foreign nationals who entered Albania during the first 6 months of 2021, is 1,687,919, increasing by 2.2 times, compared to the same period of 2020.
In the first 6 months of 2021, the countries that have the highest inflows of citizens in Albania, are Poland, which has had the largest increase by 13.8 times and Switzerland by 2.7 times, while the most significant decrease Greece had it with 69.6%, compared to the same period of 2020.
Departures of citizens
Departures of Albanian and foreign citizens from the territory of Albania, during June 2021, are 873,582 marking an increase of 2.3 times compared to the same period a year ago. The departures of Albanian citizens from the territory of Albania, during the month of June 2021, are 371,750. Compared to June 2020, this number has increased by 54.3%. Departures of foreign nationals from the territory of Albania during June 2021, are 501,832. Compared to June 2020, this number has increased by 3.5 times.
The number of Albanian citizens leaving the territory of Albania in the first 6 months of 2021 is 1,703,123. This indicator has increased by 23.4% compared to the same period a year ago./monitor
