Fear of the “Delta” mutation has not prompted citizens to be vaccinated, on the contrary. The increase in the number of doses that have entered the country has been disproportionate to the number of those who want to inject the precious fluid.
The number of administered doses has reached 1 million 35 thousand, 6 thousand 443 of which were performed only yesterday. But according to the data analyzed in detail, only two thousand and 26 figure to have received the first dose, after 4407 others injected the second. This number has been declining, despite the fact that Albania continues to expect other quantities. After 18.7 thousand doses of “Pfizer” that came on Monday, within a week another 340 thousand “Coronavac” are expected to come, according to the Minister of Health, Ogerta Manastirliu.
The Borizana Health Center appeals to the citizens to be careful, as the numbers of infections are increasing. “In the coming days, 340,000 ‘Coronavac’ vaccines are expected to arrive in the country, within the contract of the Albanian government. “The slight increase in cases of infections tells us that we need to increase vigilance, while the focus is on vaccination.” In this line goes the appeal of the experts of the Technical Committee, who are also discussing the tightening of measures in case of confirmation of the “Delta” mutation. “It’s important to vaccinate the risk group. The biggest broadcasters are teenagers. “On open vaccination days, they should be vaccinated,” said Silva Bino, head of the Infectious Diseases Department at the IPH.
For days, groups of vaccinators with mobile units have gone door-to-door to inject vaccines into groups that could not or have shown interest in getting vaccinated, even though they are within the proper range. With the arrival of the doses of “Coronavac”, the Minister of Health announced the intensification of the campaign by expanding the range of vaccinations, and left open the possibility of days dedicated to citizens over 18 years who want to be vaccinated.
1.2 MILLION DOSES have arrived in Albania since January 11, when the vaccination process began with 1,000 gift doses from a country whose name was never announced by the government. Of these, 1 million 35 thousand 667 doses of vaccines of the companies “Pfizer”, “Coronavac”, “AstraZeneca” and “Sputnik V” were administered. Unlike the first days that were intense and there were thousands of citizens who offered and even waited in line to be vaccinated, now the centers in “Skënderbej” square are almost empty. Most of the daily injected vaccines are second dose.
No fatalities from Covid in 18 days, eight infected For the eighteenth day in a row, no deaths have been registered in Albania due to Covid-19, while the number of daily infected continues to remain in low margins. Although over four thousand tests have been performed, no more than eight new cases have been identified. “In the last 24 hours 4136 tests have been performed, of which 8 citizens have tested positive with Covid-19 in these municipalities: 4 cases in Tirana, 1 case in Durrës, Elbasan, Saranda, Kolonjë”, is quoted in the daily bulletin of Ministry of Health.
The situation in hospitals also remains stable. In the only remaining hospital facility, eight patients are being treated, an unchanged figure in the last two days, while six people have thrown Covid-19 declaring themselves cured. Despite the extremely low rate of infection in the country compared to all European countries, the Ministry of Health continues to maintain in force the curfew set on November 11, 2020, a time when Albania was involved in the second major wave of the pandemic.
