The Union of Health Service Employees will hold today a protest in revolt for the arrest of 2 doctors of QSUT Serdi Memini, 34 years old, orthopedic surgeon and Ervin Sulaj, 45 years old, resuscitation anesthesiologist at the Hospital of Trauma, who are accused of corruption after allegedly taking bribes for the operation of 17-year-old Elmidin Dylit, who was injured in the Velipoja massacre.
Doctors are accused of corruption of persons exercising public functions after they took from Fatbardh Dyl, the father of the injured 17-year-old, the amount of 377,000 new lek and 55 euros, for the operation of his son. Fatbardh Dyli, 40, a resident of Shkodra, was also handcuffed on charges of passive corruption.
The arrest of the doctors has revolted the colleagues, who, supported by the Trade Union of Health Service Employees, the staff of the Tirana Military Hospital will organize a rally in the central square of this hospital, in order to react to the imprisonment which according to them is abusive and contrary to the law of both colleagues
The statement from the Health Care Workers’ Union said that it distances itself from any abusive and corrupt actions that may be committed in the name of providing health care by white shirts, but can not allow these white shirts to save lives. of people regardless of whether they are white or black, red or blue, to be treated the same as criminals who take this precious life for each of us.
Doctors Sulaj and Memini were left in prison by the court. The two doctors were detained in the premises inside the Trauma Hospital, where the amount of money that Fatbardh Dyli gave them for the operation was seized.
It was the wife of Fatbardh Dyli, the mother of the injured, who had a telephone conversation with the nurse in Shkodra, Diellë Macaj, telling her that “they will bring a gift of 500 thousand old lekë to the doctor”, but without mentioning the name which of them. The nurse supported him in that conversation, saying that “it is good to send him the gift”. That was enough for the police who were eavesdropping on the Dyli family after the serious event in Velipoja on June 27 with four killed, where their 17-year-old son Elmidin Dyli was also injured, to arrest the two surgeons of the “Mother” hospital. Their arrest took place during the operation codenamed “Bisturia”, while the materials were referred to the Prosecution at the Shkodra Court of First Instance. 17-year-old Elmidin Dyli was injured in the knee in the collision with weapons in Velipoja in the early hours of the morning of June 27, 2021, where the Ferracaku and Gocaj families clashed after a conflict over several meters of beach territory in Velipoja over the placement of sunbeds.
