A U.S. government report on UFOs, released Friday, says defense and reconnaissance analysts do not have enough data to determine the nature of the mysterious flying objects observed by U.S. Navy pilots.
The report does not clearly define whether these are man-made objects, using highly sophisticated technology, natural phenomena or of an extraterrestrial nature.
The report, which was submitted to Congress, includes 144 observations of these facilities, which the government officially refers to as the “unidentified air phenomenon” (UAP), and the first case dates back to 2004. The report was drafted by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence in collaboration with a working group, led by the US Navy.
“UAP, or unidentified air phenomena, is a challenge to US national security,” the report said, adding that these phenomena “probably do not have a single explanation.”
The U.S. government’s investigation into these phenomena was prompted by U.S. Navy footage showing unknown objects making movements in the air that could not be accomplished by technologies known to date.
In some of the scenes, objects are commented on as man-made or natural atmospheric phenomena. The report says that they may be secret devices of the American government that use advanced technology, or even from the opponents of the United States.
The report does not mention the possibility that some objects represent extraterrestrial life, but neither does it rule out such a thing. Preparations for the report began six months ago and it includes evidence gathered over a period of many years.
