The US does not recommend traveling to the Olympics

As a result, more sites are now classified as level 4, “do not go there”.

The US today recommended its citizens against traveling to Japan, the host country of the Olympic Games this summer, because of the risks associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Because of COVID-19, do not travel to Japan,” wrote the US State Department (DASH), which has increased its travel advice to the maximum alert level, reports Afp.

For several weeks, DASH has been updating its travel warnings to align with those of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), in order to better address the risks associated with COVID-19.

As a result, more sites are now classified as level 4, “do not go there”.

However, with regard to Japan, two months away from the Olympics supposed to be held in Tokyo from July 23 to August 8, this warning is of particular importance, especially as the holding of the world sports competition continues to be debated in the archipelago, part of which is under a state of emergency in the face of a fourth wave of COVID-19.

DASH did not specify whether this decision could affect the preparation of the Games and the participation of US delegations.
