China has denied allegations that it launched a cyber attack on tech giant Microsoft.
The US and Western countries on Monday accused China of hacking the Microsoft Exchange, a popular e-mail platform used by companies around the world.
They said the attack had jeopardized global security. But China has said it opposes any cybercrime and has called the West’s statements fabricated.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry said the US has forced allies to make baseless statements and criticisms. Britain, the EU, New Zealand, Australia and other countries of the world joined the US accusing China of state hacking campaigns.
Microsoft Exchange is a platform that enables the use of e-mail by small businesses to large corporations and even government institutions. Hacking has affected at least 30,000 organizations worldwide.
According to Microsoft it is the Chinese group Hafnium sponsored by the state that undertook the cyber attack.
