In Pepinster, a city in eastern Belgium, hundreds of homes collapsed after the Vesdre River flooded the city, while more than a thousand homes were evacuated.
Sky News published a recording of a conversation with the mayor of Pepinster that was interrupted when one of the houses began to collapse due to the flood. The footage shows tenants fleeing onto the roof.
People living near the Meuse River in Liege, a city of 200,000, have been asked to move to areas not at risk of flooding, and maritime traffic has been suspended due to the risk of overflowing the river.
Heavy rains, which experts say are unprecedented, have spread to France, Luxembourg and the Netherlands, and parts of Switzerland are on high alert.
At least 120 people have died in the floods, and hundreds more are still at large.
