The Albanian artist, Gjon Muharremaj known by the artistic name ‘Gjon’s Tears’ has been selected to represent the state of Switzerland in the song festival in Europe, Eurovision 2020. He sang the song “Repondez-moi” last night in Rotterdam.
While he has family ties with the mayor of Suhareka, Bali Muharremaj, where the latter last night through a post on his personal account on ‘Facebook’ showed that Gjoni is his uncle’s son.
In his post, he expressed his support and appreciation for John’s performance, but still asked for a vote for Albania.
John’s song has been selected as appropriate to represent Switzerland by a jury of 100 people, out of 515 songs submitted and last night he managed to qualify for the finals.
Born in Switzerland, Gjon Muharremaj is of Albanian origin, his father is from Kosovo and his mother is from Tirana. Despite being born in Switzerland, Gjon speaks a very pure Albanian, combining the dialect of Kosovo with that of Tirana.
