Italian Ambassador to Kosovo, Nicola Orlando has announced that his mission as ambassador will end at the end of this month.
Orlando made this known through a post on Twitter, where he said that this decision is unexpected and that his mission is ending only after a year and a half.
He has announced that he will go to Libya with a new mission.
This is the full statement of Ambassador Orlando:
This comes suddenly, but my mission in Kosovo will end at the end of June, after only a year and a half.
I am humbled and grateful for the trust of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, who has appointed me his Special Envoy for Libya. At the same time, I am saddened to be leaving Kosovo so soon. I just started to get acquainted with this beautiful and attractive place.
I am deeply grateful to my colleagues at the Embassy, my international partners and especially the people of Kosovo who supported me from the first moment and made me feel at home.
Kosovo’s path to justice, prosperity and internal and external harmony is sometimes bumpy, but always clear. It leads to Europe, where Kosovo belongs together with other countries of the Western Balkans. I am grateful that I had the privilege of witnessing, albeit briefly, Italy’s unwavering commitment to this end.
Ambassadors come and go, but the long and sincere friendship between the two countries and our peoples will always remain. Thank you!
