The gang after the colossal ransomware attack has demanded $ 70 million in Bitcoin in order to provide the universal decryptor which will open all the encrypted contents of the victims.
The REvil Group says its malware, which initially hit US firm IT Kaseya, has affected at least 1 million systems. This number has not been verified and the exact number of victims is not known.
On Friday, cybersecurity firm Huntress Labs estimated that nearly 200 companies had been affected by the attack. It was a chain attack which after hitting Kaseya spread to corporate networks which used its software.
According to Kaseya less than 40 of its customers have been affected. Since Kaseya provides managed software for companies that provide IT services to other companies, the number of victims can be much higher.
For hundreds or thousands of IT teams worldwide ransomware attacks are a real nightmare that is growing day by day. / PCWorld Albanian
