Shortly before he was killed, for about 10 minutes, Haitian President Jovenel Moïse asked for help from the national police commissioner and a police officer.
“They are firing at the house, mobilize the people,” he is said to have told a police commissioner at around 1:34 p.m.
Meanwhile, he made another call to a police officer, asking him why they had not yet arrived at the building: “Where are you? I need your help now. My life is in danger. “Come quickly,” he said.
The policeman, whose name was not disclosed, told foreign media that after the call for help from the president, he heard the sound of a rifle, while they immediately left for the place where the president lived with his wife and two children.
But despite the call for help, the President was executed at gunpoint.
About 2 weeks after his murder investigators are analyzing the fact how a group of Colombian mercenaries responsible for the murder of the 53-year-old, managed to pass three police patrols and security agents to reach the residence which is surrounded.
Three cars started immediately towards the building. Even the police commissioner who received the call received from Moïse said that he had made 4 calls within 14 minutes, while he was on his way to the president’s house.
Foreign media reported that police officers who were heading towards the president’s house were stopped on the way by a car with several gunmen inside, as well as Haitian police officers.
A police officer also testified that he had seen a group of heavily armed people, identified as Colombians, wearing white T-shirts, as they shouted: “Operacionzmbrapsuni”.
24 officers were assigned to be part of Moïse’s security group, but so far police have refused to say how many people were employed at night and the killing and none of them were injured during the event. .
So far the investigation has led to the arrest of 18 Colombians and two American-Haitians suspected of being involved. While 3 Colombian mercenaries were killed, while 5 others are on the run.
Among the 5 National Police officers for the assassination of the president is also detained Herard the head of Moïse Security and together with him 20 members of the security team of the president who are under investigation.
