Local elections will be held in Kosovo on October 17. The Central Election Commission has set a deadline of July 10 to August 18 for Albanians abroad to participate in these elections.
According to Kosova Press, a few days ago, until August 3, they received 2,102 applications to register as voters outside Kosovo, for the local elections that will be held in October in Kosovo.
Of these applications, 1,960 were approved, while another 141 did not meet the legal criteria.
Applicants who meet the legal criteria as registrants abroad, can vote by mail, a vote which begins on September 15, while ballots must be accepted by the CEC until October 15, 2021.
The application for registration of Kosovo citizens living abroad, to vote by mail, can be done until August 18.
At today’s meeting of the CEC it was said that so far about – thousands of citizens have asked to change their polling station.
There are 933 requests related to this, of which 783 have been submitted.
The period for changing the polling station only within the municipality will end on September 7.
While the application period for certification for participation in the October local elections ends on August 16 for political parties, as well as for submitting the list with the names of candidates for mayor or municipal assemblies.
At the CEC meeting it was said that so far they have received 7 applications from political entities, of which 4 civic initiatives, 1 political party and 2 independent candidates.
