One of the leading researchers of the company that produces the Chinese vaccine Sinovac in Indonesia, according to sources has died from the consequences of COVID-19.
It is about Novilia Sjafri Bachtiar, who passed away when she was not yet 50 years old. The news shocked the Asian country of 270 million people, and Minister Erich Thohir, known in Europe as the main shareholder of the Inter team a few years ago, spoke of a “huge loss”, while there the balance of the pandemic is deteriorating.
For the first time during the week the threshold of 1 thousand victims in 24 hours was crossed, with almost 35 thousand new cases. In overcrowded wards, health personnel themselves talk about a difficulty in finding oxygen.
The fact that the country has been vaccinated for the most part with the Chinese Sinovac vaccine, along with the increased cases in other countries such as Chile, Seychelles, etc. that use Chinese vaccines, has again cast doubt on the effectiveness of the Chinese “weapon” against COVID. -19, especially with regard to serious cases or death.
However, the researchers pushed for a broader analysis. Even in states that use Sinovac, most victims have been unvaccinated or only with the first dose.
But epidemiologists also say that this type of vaccine, although it has a good impact in reducing severe cases, is not yet perfect and especially to the latest variants like the Delta, may need a third dose.
