The Tirana Prosecutor’s Office has appealed the court decision to release from prison the cell of Jehon Breçani, 19-year-old who on June 11 had an accident and cut off the leg of Xhesina Gega in a car on “Xhanfize Keko” street in Tirana.
Journalist Ermal Vija informs abcnews.al that the prosecution has already requested the change of the security measure for Brecani from “house arrest” to “prison arrest”.
Brecani had left the hospital at home and according to journalist Xhensila Kodra, everything happened after the decision of the court of first instance, which reasoned that he could stay at home despite the serious accident.
It is now up to the Court of Appeals to finally decide whether Jehon Breçani, the son of the former Deputy Director of the State Police, Erzen Breçani, will stay at home or return to his cell.
What happened?
Jehon Breçani was driving a luxury Mercedes at speed on “Xhanfize Keko” street on the afternoon of June 11 in Tirana, where for reasons that the police have not yet clarified, he lost control of the vehicle and crashed Xhesina Gega, while standing on the sidewalk. The girl loses her leg from the strong collision and is sent to the hospital out of danger for life.
Brecani was initially given the security measure “prison arrest”, but then it was changed to “house arrest” and the young man immediately fled home after recovering from injuries sustained in the accident.
The event caused a lot of public reaction as the arrogance and carelessness of rich young people with luxury cars on the streets of Albania is endangering the lives of citizens every day.
The most recent case, just a few days after the event in question, another young man, named Igli Madani killed four family members in an accident on the Fier-Vlora axis.
