Starting next week, the citizens of Kosovo will be able to choose the type of COVID vaccine they want to receive.
Kosovar media report that this decision was announced by the Kosovo Ministry of Health. Currently in the neighboring country are only two types of vaccine, Pfizer and Astra Zeneca.
Yesterday, the Minister of Health, Arben Vitia, called on the citizens to be vaccinated against the coronavirus, because according to the experts, a third wave of the pandemic is expected in the autumn season.
“Autumn should find us with as many vaccinated citizens as possible. “It is the only way and for sure that even if a new wave appears by autumn, which according to experts is almost inevitable, only vaccinated we protect each other’s health, economic, social health, we preserve our well-being”, he said Vitia.
Vitia also spoke about the reluctance of citizens to receive the AstraZeneca vaccine, but stressed that the vaccines used by Kosovo are approved by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) and the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
He has said that this reluctance is coming as irresponsible individuals with or without consciousness are causing damage to public health.
VACCINATION IN ALBANIA
Despite the fact that in Albania we have several types of COVID vaccines, citizens still do not have the freedom to choose which one to get.
The type of vaccine is determined by the Ministry of Health according to a vaccination plan. Last month, on June 28 and 29, the age band was removed to receive the COVID vaccine, where citizens only need to apply and receive the first dose. This practice will be followed in the coming months.
