Deputies of the Assembly of Kosovo have adopted today the Resolution condemning the genocide in Srebrenica in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In favor of the resolution were 89 deputies, none against and no abstentions. The resolution passed the Assembly of Kosovo as a proposal of the Bosniak coalition, while it was supported by all parliamentary groups in Kosovo. But the Serbian List, as soon as the discussion in the Assembly started, left the hall.
What does the resolution provide?
The resolution adopted today in the Assembly of Kosovo strongly condemns the Serbian genocide in Srebrenica, human rights violations and condemns any tendency to deliberately and publicly deny the Srebrenica genocide, in order to denigrate the victims and hide the motives of the crimes committed .
This resolution invites institutions to honor the victims of genocide, given the fact that the European Parliament has declared July 11th as the day of commemoration of the victims of genocide in Srebrenica.
During his speech in the Assembly, Prime Minister Albin Kurti said that support for this resolution is a noble act. “Today we are supporting a resolution on the occasion of the 26th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide. This is a noble and proper action and above all our human universality of our desire for justice. The Srebrenica genocide is the largest massacre in Europe since World War II. For years we remember Srebrenica calling for justice. “In 2016 I went to Srebrenica invited by the Mothers of Srebrenica. Srebrenica was full of graves and memorials”, said Kurti.
