The Assembly has given the green light to the start of procedures to enable Albanian citizens residing abroad to vote. In today’s parliamentary session after the reporting in the parliament of the CEC head Ilirjan Celibashi, the assembly approved with 86 votes in favor, 5 against and 6 abstentions the resolution “On the evaluation of the activity of the Central Election Commission for 2020”.

Assessing the work for the 2021 parliamentary elections, the Assembly urges the CEC to engage in initiating procedures for leading and overseeing the process of preparing the conditions and implementing measures that enable voting from abroad.
Point 4 of the resolution states:
The CEC to continue the procedures on leading and supervising the process for preparing the conditions and implementing the measures that enable voting from abroad in the elections for the Assembly in implementation of article 24 of the Electoral Code, as amended, as well as article 20 point “ç” of The Electoral Code, as amended, “Development of voting for the first time from abroad, based on the report of the Commissioner for the completion of technical-organizational measures that enable voting.”
