50% of patients who became infected with coronavirus and were admitted to UK hospitals developed at least one complication. The data come from a study conducted by 7 Universities in England in collaboration with the Public Health Authority.
The study found that healthy young people also developed complications, as did patients over the age of 50. According to the findings, 4 in ten patients, aged 19 to 39, had problems with their kidneys, lungs, heart, or other organs, and sought treatment for them.
The study leader said this proves that the corona is not just a disease of the elderly and those who are weaker. Even young people who come to the hospital with major complications, require further treatment and monitoring in the future.
The study monitored around 73,000 adults of all ages in 302 UK hospitals during the first wave of coronavirus in 2020. 56% of them were men and in a stable state of health.
