Russia approved the Sputnik V vaccine in August last year, just before the completion of the scientific studies planned for the vaccines. This decision was met with criticism from scientific circles at the time. But nearly 70 countries have since allowed the vaccine to be used.
EMA is currently verifying the permit for use in the EU. At the beginning of March, the monitoring procedure started in the framework of a “Rolling Reviews”, a procedure where the test results are verified, although not all the data have been submitted and there is still no application for a use permit. Two EU countries, even without the permission of the EMA, meanwhile use the Russian vaccine preparation. Hungary and Slovakia.
