Specialist doctors have reacted after the decision of the Ministry of Health, to terminate their employment contracts.
This decision entered into force for the regions of Tirana, Elbasan, Vlora and Shkodra. The doctors did not welcome this step and addressed this issue in the media.
One of them says that there is no regulation that stipulates that doctors who are still in specialization are prohibited from working.
The doctor stressed that their request is to hold a meeting with the Ministry of Health, to express the problems they have. In case the decision is not reviewed, the doctors warned protests and sent the case to the judicial bodies.
“We have a specialization regulation, where at no point are we forbidden to work in parallel. The legal document that terminates the employment relationship is the contract. It does not say that doctors should specialize and study and work. We are family, heads of households and the work part is important. There is room to see this part and change it.
We need to have a meeting with the Ministry on this issue. We are 4 generations, about 200 and some people in the generation, about 800 people fall without work. We have no contract, we pay for these studies, we do not receive any salary. The workplace says contribution to get this specialization. Getting the specialization is endless training, costs. These costs are covered by us.
In the amount of salary, the general doctor receives 700 thousand old lekë, the specialist somewhere around 800 thousand old lekë. We started the first step in the legal form, the second step is we will escalate our actions, we will protest and we can take it to court “, said the doctor.
Recall that after the outbreak of the pandemic, specialist doctors were recruited in the country’s hospitals, to give their contribution to the difficult situation. But, after the reduction of daily cases by COVID and the number of hospitalized, through a decision, the ministry decided to fire them, both in the private and public sector.
