Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said that Serbia has provided the fifth type of coronavirus vaccine from the American pharmaceutical company Moderna.
Vucic said on Thursday that doses of the vaccine would arrive in Serbia in October.
Serbian citizens have so far been vaccinated with vaccines provided by Russia and China, as well as the American company Pfizer / BioNTech and the Anglo-Swedish AstraZeneca.
Vuiqi tha said that Serbia, at the moment, has 1.3 million vaccines against coronavirus, which are available to citizens.
He called on epidemiologists to decide whether citizens should be vaccinated with the third dose or not.
“I call on people to be vaccinated, of course we will need the third dose,” said Vucic.
Days ago, the pharmaceutical company Pfizer said it would ask health authorities to approve the third booster dose.
The company has mentioned an increased risk of infection six months after two-dose immunization, but has not yet shared data showing that risk.
Vuiqi tha said on Thursday that in the coming days, the Torlak Institute of Serbia will release the first batch of Russian Sputnik V vaccine, and next month, he added, the cornerstone of the factory for the production of the Chinese vaccine Sinopharm will be laid in Serbi./ REL
