Tim Berners-Lee, the creator of the Internet we know today as the World Wide Web, auctioned off the original Internet source code. The source code was sold digitally as an NFT through blockchain for $ 5.43 million.
The WWW source code (1990-1991) was sold as a non-fungible token. Due to the nature of this technology, NFT was paid in cryptocurrencies.
Anyone who has paid for NFT will receive the original files containing the source code, files written by Berners-Lee between October 3, 1990 and August 24, 1991. There are a total of 9,555 lines of code.
What is an NFT?
NFT or otherwise known as Non-Fungible Token, are the product of blockchain expansion. By purchasing an NFT you have purchased a certificate of authenticity and proof of ownership.
When you buy an NFT, what you are actually buying is a blockchain token associated with a digital artifact. You are not actually buying a digital artifact nor property rights. Even though you are technically the owner of the asset, it can still be distributed online. / PCWorld Albanian
