AMD confirmed a partnership with Samsung at the annual Computex 2021 conference where it plans to bring RDNA2 graphics to Exynos processors.
The news was given by AMD CEO himself, Dr. Lisa Su.
To date Samsung has used Mali graphics developed by ARM for Exynos processors. However these graphics do not stand out for their high performance.
It is one of the reasons why Samsung Exynos processors have been disadvantaged in the face of rivals like Qualcomm and Adreno graphics.
The flagship Exynos 2100 processor has the Mali G78 graphics chip. While the next processor will have RDNA2 graphics with 14 cores.
Despite promises of 40% performance growth, the graphics still lag behind the Snapdragon 888 graphics.
