During a speech on the discovery of new natural gas deposits in the Black Sea, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said the Turkish ship Yavuz would soon start drilling in the Mediterranean.
“We are preparing for another move in the Mediterranean. “Our ship Yavuz is already in the port of Tasuzhou and will soon start drilling,” Erdogan said.
The Turkish president also stressed that he would not be influenced by the words of other countries regarding exploration in the Mediterranean Sea.
“We will continue seismic research and drilling. “And we will certainly not ask what others say.” Because from now on what we say matters more. “The decision is ours,” he said.
Recall that in an interview with the daily Hurriyet, Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar reiterated Ankara’s claims to the Aegean and the Eastern Mediterranean.
“We are acting in accordance with international law. What does Lausanne say? “The islands cannot militarize them.” “But you can see that they have already militarized them.”
The Turkish Minister of Defense also spoke about Turkey’s theory of the “Blue Homeland”.
“We have no aspirations for anyone’s land, rights or interests.” “But we are determined and able to defend the rights and interests in our Blue Sea and Homeland, as well as in Cyprus,” he concluded.
