Albania and the US signed an agreement on the coordination of 5G technology between the two countries.
Prime Minister Edi Rama said during the meeting with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken that the creation of a communication corridor between the two countries is very important.
He called on other European countries to join such an initiative, adding that these services should be placed in the hands of citizens and not be touched by malicious third parties.
“For me and us in Albania is a very important moment because, as you know, we have taken the initiative for several years and we have asked other countries in the region to work together for a corridor of communication and to put this corridor of very critical services in the hands of the citizens of Albania and the security institutions and not to be compromised by third parties. Albania is on the side of the US and will always be. I hope that together we will convince other parties in the region to join us in this initiative. “ – said Rama.
“Thank you very much for being here. Thank you for the work we have done together. You are setting a strong example for others today of the need to ensure that when it comes to the most technology-sensitive networks we have to work with trusted vendors.
This is important and a message to send to others. Most importantly, we are grateful for the work that the United States and Albania have done together in many different areas, including the Defender21 exercise.
We look forward to taking your seat on the Security Council. We have a lot of work to do there as well and this partnership is becoming stronger and deeper and we greatly appreciate your leadership. “, said Blinken.
