Dafina Berisha, a 21-year-old from Kosovo, aims to become the first Albanian MP in the German Bundestag. She is the candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SPD) in the parliamentary elections in Germany.
Dafina, whose parents moved to Germany from Deçan, was born and lives in Hamburg. She said that, in addition to her party’s objectives, the voice of Albanians will be in the German parliament.
“We have 9 thousand Albanians who have the right to vote in Hamburg and still no Albanian is part of the German parliament. “I want to be the first Albanian in the Bundestag to promote the rights of Albanians in the Bundestag, but also the rights of young people,” she said.
Berisha has been critical of the lack of organization of Albanians in Germany, although there are about 400 thousand living throughout Germany.
Dafina Berisha, a law student, said she has always been ambitious and wanted to succeed in politics. She has shown that she has been engaged in PSD as an activist since the age of 17.
Parliamentary elections in Germany will be held on September 26, 2021.
