At the northwestern tip of the peninsula, on the Cape of Gjuhëza, is the cave of Haxhi Alia, a well-known name in the history of maritime piracy. This natural object is the largest sea cave in the country, with many pockets inside. Inside the cave sleeps a modest lake surrounded by rock walls decorated by stalactites. There is also the cave of Grama, inside which numerous inscriptions have been discovered, which correspond to different periods of history.
The small bay of Grama, located in the western part of Karaburun, is one of the most special surprises of the peninsula, from a historical point of view. According to historians, this place has served since ancient times as a resort for ships. On the numerous walls of the bay, many inscriptions carved by sailors are easily found, expressing gratitude to Poseidon.
The first writings belong to the IV century BC. In the Latin writings, which correspond to the first century AD, are found the names of Mark Antony and Pompey, as well as various drawings, including ships, crosses, anchors, shields, etc.
The peninsula can be reached in two ways. The sea route is the shortest, but the destination is also reached by land. The earthly journey begins at Orikum and traverses through the Pashaliman base. But of course this is the least preferred way, even as it may happen that the military base is blocked. From the bay of Vlora it takes only a few minutes by speedboat or boat to reach the peninsula of mysteries and wildlife.
During the summer months Cape Tongue is populated by vacationers looking for adventures in pristine waters and shores.
