The Covid Pandemic and restrictions on the movement of goods and persons continue to affect the volume of postal services in the country. AKEP reports that During the first quarter of 2021 there are 6,940,395 postal items received and sent by the Albanian Post and Postal Service Providers, with an increase of 1.9% compared to the same quarter of the previous year, when their total was 6,813,647. For the first quarter of 2021, Albanian Post occupies about 79% of the postal market compared to other Postal Service Providers which together account for 21%
Albanian Post in the first quarter of 2021 has realized 5,451,274 postal services, a figure which translates into 178,051 postal items more than the fourth quarter of 2020, as postal service providers in the first quarter of 2021 have realized 86,459 postal items less than three fourth of 2020.
From the reported data it results that the largest volume of postal objects is occupied by the universal postal service with about 74.4% or 5,165,718 postal objects, followed by the express service with 13% or 900,729 postal objects. Non-universal service occupies 12.6% or 873,948 postal items
It is clear that most of the postal services are occupied by the Universal Postal Service, which fluctuates at levels around 74% for the first quarter of 2021. Comparing the period T1-2021 with the period T4-2020, there is an increase in the number of postal services in the amount of 91,592 services, as compared to the comparison of the first quarter of 2021 with the first quarter of 2020, there is an increase of postal services in the amount of about 126,748 services. / SCAN
