Facebook will expand the functionality of stores in the WhatsApp application in some countries of the world.
It was Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg himself who announced three new updates that are coming: Shops on WhatsApp and Marketplace, Shops Ads and Instagram Visual Search.
Beyond Shops on WhatsApp, Shops Ads is a personalized experience based on the individual behaviors of people when shopping in order to be offered products they usually buy.
The social media giant launched Shops last year as a way where people can buy products directly on Facebook and Instagram. There are currently over 300 million store visitors and 1.2 million active stores.
In the coming months the company said it will test an artificial intelligence tool called “visual search” where users can click on items in Instagram photos and find similar products in other stores.
With this tool users can search for items by uploading their photos. Facebook is not the first company to use this technology because there are other names like Cadeera, Donde Search and Stye.ai.
The social network also promised an augmented reality tool where users can try things out. / PCWorld Albanian
