Half a month ago OnePlus announced that it would become a sub-brand of Oppo, while the latest news is that the OxygenOS operating system will also merge with the ColorOS operating system.
OnePlus says that these moves are made in order to make better use of the resources of the two companies and to standardize the software experience throughout their product portfolio.
But what does OnePlus really mean by “merging OxygenOS and ColorOS base code?” The company said the changes will not be noticed as everything will happen in the background.
OxygenOS will remain the operating system of internationally sold OnePlus devices. Soon OnePlus smartphones sold in China will have ColorOS.
Looking for updates, OnePlus promised faster and longer updates. Flagships like the OnePlus 8 Series or 9 Series will get three major versions of Android and four years of security updates.
