Northern Macedonia will again make attempts to defuse the stalemate in the negotiations with the formation of a new government in Bulgaria.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bujar Osmani has confirmed that the formation of the new government is expected to resume the talks where they have stalled while the dialogue will formally resume with the formation of new institutions there.
Osmani wants a resolution with Bulgaria that would help the process and not turn it around.
Bulgaria vetoed the opening of negotiations in northern Macedonia in June. The two countries have problems in terms of language and history, but the Bulgarian veto ‘burned’ Albania, which, although it had met the conditions, did not open negotiations with the EU.
“It is very important to communicate with the legitimate representatives of the Bulgarian state, so we are waiting for the new government to be formed and to resume communication in order to continue the talks where we left off. We have contacts with Bulgarian political parties, but the formal dialogue will start after the establishment of institutions there. The issue of the constitutional name that became part of this Resolution opens new problems and we achieve nothing. We reiterate our position that we are for a resolution that will strengthen the positions of the state, but with consensus to help this process and not to turn back this issue ” – declared Bujar Osmani.
