The Minister of Health, Ogerta Manastirliu from the Assembly spoke about the situation of COVID in the country. The Minister underlined that so far over 986 thousand vaccinations have been carried out, while adding that over 400 thousand citizens are fully vaccinated. Manastirliu said that we will continue a mass vaccination campaign during the summer months and with home vaccination of those who do not have the opportunity. The Minister further underlined that citizens should be careful about the Dela variant for the fact that it has appeared in neighboring countries, but so far in our country there is no case with this variant.
‘We concluded two open days of vaccination over 25 thousand citizens or vaccinations have been carried out and over 17 thousand citizens have been vaccinated for the first time. Over 986 thousand vaccinations have been carried out. We are moving at a good pace and in terms of second doses are over 400 thousand citizens who are fully vaccinated. Here we are to meet a target of 1.1 million doses.
Today we bring to the Assembly for approval another agreement on Pfizer vaccines, through COVAX, from which we will provide about 1 million 140 thousand doses of vaccines. We will continue a massive vaccination campaign during the summer months and with home vaccination of those with disabilities.
There is an alert that experts refer to, it is the alert for the cause of the new Delta variant that has also been identified in the countries of the Region. It is much more contagious than other variants that have dominated so far and therefore maximum care is required. Follow the advice of experts. In our laboratories no case has been identified with the new Delta variant. It is important not to neglect any signs of illness. We will continue with the open days of vaccination even in the summer months.’- said Manastirliu.
Manastirliu, during her speech in the Assembly, announced the provision of another 23,400 doses of vaccines by the company Pfizer, part of the agreement that the Albanian government has with the COVAX instrument.
“Today we bring to the Assembly for approval another agreement on Pfizer vaccines, part of the framework agreement that the Albanian government has with the Covax instrument, from which we will provide about 1,140,000 doses of vaccines. Through the COVAX instrument it is already possible to reach 120 thousand doses of AstaraZeneca, with the agreement according to the window opened by this instrument and the next agreement from this instrument is related to the company Pfizer, from which we will provide at this stage, 23,400 doses of Pfizer vaccine Bion-Tech, which are expected to come to Albania soon. This is another contract, apart from the direct contract that the Albanian government has approved with Pfizer for about 500 thousand doses of vaccine, the delivery of which has started since February “, declared Manastirliu.
