Intel came back strong earlier this month with the launch of 11th generation Tiger Lake H processors while at Computex 2021 the company introduced a new pair of U series processors which have a frequency of up to 5Ghz.
Specifically Intel introduced the Core i7-1195G7, which is the most powerful U series processor, and the Core i5-1155G7 which becomes the most powerful Core i5 processor.
The chips operate in the 12-28 watt range and with 4/8 core and thread configurations. They also have the new Intel Iris Xe graphics.
I7-1195G7 has a base frequency of 2.9Ghz and turbo of 5.0Ghz thanks to Turbo Boost Max 3.0 technology. while the Core i5-1155G7 has a base frequency of 2.5Ghz and a turbo of 4.5Ghz.
The first processors with a base frequency of 5.0Ghz came in 2019 to laptops. Along with these new models, Intel unveiled a 5G modem for laptops, an M.2 card that can be incorporated into laptop designs.
Although the company sold 5G technology for smartphones to Apple, it continues its efforts in 5G technology in other directions. The new modem is a collaboration with MediaTek and Fibocom offering support for 5G at sub-6Ghz frequencies and integrated e-Sim technology. The first laptops with this 5G technology come towards the end of the year from Acer, Asus and HP. / PCWorld Albanian
