Mustafa Nano tells MCN that not only Rama, but also other governments have seen Turkey as a friendly country.
But what Nano considered as one of his biggest fears is the strengthening that Rama has given to this friendship, but that according to the analyst, Turkey will need to make it clear that Albania is not Turkey, as we are a secular country.
“Erdogan’s visions are not only symbolic but also real and practical. But this is the only danger I see, that when it comes to religion Turks should know one thing that we are not in Turkey. We have some religious beliefs, we have what we consider religious harmony.
This must be told to the Turks. ‘We only like you a lot, but keep in mind that Albania has this special. Because we are not like you. The moment one religion dominates the other religions feel despised and this I love. “Turks should know that we are a secular country, with some religions,” Nano said.
Mr. Nano, we return to a topic we discussed earlier: relations with Turkey. A visit of President Erdogan to Tirana has been announced soon. How do you see the moment of this visit that seems to inaugurate the third term of the Rama government?
There is no difference since the Rama era if we can call it that we have seen a strong orientation of Albania towards Turkey. Not that it has not been before, other governments have also seen Turkey as a close and great friend, but Rama has this practice and has strengthened it and this is a two-sided medal. We will always keep Turkey as a friendly country for religious reasons, but my fear is that this kind of strengthened friendship should be monitored very carefully because there is always confusion and therefore whoever is against Erdogan is seen as being against Turkey, and This is not true. I also see dangers, and one of these is that Albania becomes one of the lands in the Balkans where Ottomanism can be more easily experimented with. And they will want to recover this with Albania, which is easier to do, that is my fear.
Turkey is investing in the construction of new homes in Lac, has invested in the Namazgja mosque and has recently offered access to technology by selling drones. In your opinion, how symbolic is the content of Erdogan’s visit and do you think that it is aimed at a religious audience in our country?
Erdogan’s visit is not only symbolic but also real and practical. Turks should know that we are a secular country, with some religions.
Let’s stop for a moment at the mosque. Ankara has made it clear that there is a problem with the head of the Muslim Community who describes him as a Gulenist. Do you think that this is an intervention which the Albanian government, or Mr. Should Rama limit it?
Rama has limited it, in my opinion, from the moment he did not intervene. In this sense I believe he has maintained the right attitude, but their pressure is offensive, it is annoying. There are two moments that the Albanian authorities must make clear that this is a religious issue that is resolved by the religious committees themselves. We have nothing to do with this, Rama has nothing to do. Albania is a secular country.
Nano, a few days ago the spokesman of Mr. Erdogan, Ibrahim Kalin, referring to the sale of drones stated that the peace and stability of Albania are the peace and stability of Turkey. How should we read this statement, given that Mr. Rama, for example, said that drones are for territory monitoring?
And when we talk about peace and stability it is a cliché. They bring something, or make an investment everything they say. Drones as I see it directly with this thing. Drones are some equipment to come to the aid of Albania. I do not see these things connected.
